WHAT:
Press briefing conference call to discuss a new report from Trust for America's Health (TFAH), Ready or Not? Protecting the Public's Health from Diseases, Disasters, and Bioterrorism -- 2005. The two-part report includes 1) grades of major federal government health emergency preparedness programs based on a survey of experts and 2) scores for states based on 10 key indicators to gauge preparedness for bioterrorist attacks and other health emergencies.
Topics include hospital and health care worker preparedness for major emergencies, testing capabilities for biological and chemical threats, and readiness for the Strategic National Stockpile.
This is the third year in a row that TFAH conducted a review of states' public health preparedness and the first year for the federal analysis. State-specific information is available.
